Brush clearing
Brush is cover the herd cannot eat. You hire a brush crew, they clear the acres, and those acres become grass. Brush does not pay you in wood. You pay the crew.
Growth
Brush grows back from grass at 2.5 acres per season. A season is seven real days. It grows only in whole seasons, and only up to the brush acres the tract had when it was released. It does not grow while a brush contract is still running. If there is no grass left to give up, it does not grow.
That 2.5 acres is the whole brush rate. It does not change with how much you leave, the way timber does.
The crews
Faster brush costs more. The price is TOUGH per acre, and the time is how many acres that crew finishes in one real day.
- Hap Calder. 5 acres a day, 50 TOUGH an acre.
- Inez Pohl. 8 acres a day, 85 TOUGH an acre.
- Redd Brothers. 12 acres a day, 125 TOUGH an acre.
- Marrow Line Crew. 18 acres a day, 175 TOUGH an acre.
- Kingpin Clearing. 28 acres a day, 250 TOUGH an acre.
Clear brush when you want the AUM. Leave it when you would rather spend the TOUGH somewhere else. Every acre of brush is an acre that is not grass, and a full grass tract is 60 AUM. Read AUMs.
