Markets
Commodity market
The commodity market buys cattle for meat and pays TOUGH. It is the check for steers, and it is also open to cows, bulls, and purebreds you would rather sell by the pound than through a player sale.
The price
The market has a price per pound. The starting figure is 0.5 TOUGH per pound, and the live price can be set higher or lower. The animal's weight is the weight on its record.
Sex changes the rate:
- A steer is paid the full price per pound.
- A cow is paid 85 percent of that.
- A bull is paid 80 percent of that.
Each degrade point then cuts the check by 5 percent. A heavy, sound steer is the commodity animal. A degraded bull is the small check.
Purebreds
You may sell a purebred for meat. You may also enter a sound purebred in the Purebred Sale, where the opening bid starts 30 percent above this same commodity quote. The commodity page is the floor those other sales are measured from.
